Disneyland vs. Walt Disney World: Which Is Right for Your Family's First Trip?

This is one of my favorite questions to help families work through: "Should we go to Disneyland or Disney World for our first trip?" Both are incredible, but they offer very different experiences, and the right choice depends on your family.

Walt Disney World in Orlando is massive. We're talking four theme parks, two water parks, Disney Springs, and over 25 resort hotels spread across 25,000 acres. A typical Walt Disney World vacation is 5 to 7 days, and many families still don't see everything. It's immersive, it's expansive, and it's the full-blown Disney experience. For most families from Kingston, PA and the surrounding Northeastern PA area, Disney World is the natural first choice because it's a relatively short flight from AVP or Philly.

Disneyland in Anaheim is more compact: two parks, three on-site hotels, and Downtown Disney, all walkable. A Disneyland trip can be done in 3 to 4 days, which makes it great for families with younger kids, shorter attention spans, or tighter schedules. It also pairs beautifully with a California vacation: beach days, Hollywood sightseeing, San Diego, and more.

Here's how I break it down for families: if you want the ultimate, all-in Disney immersion with maximum variety, go Walt Disney World. If you want a shorter, more relaxed trip that still delivers incredible Disney magic (especially for little ones), Disneyland is perfect.

And here's the best part: as your travel agent, I plan both destinations at no extra cost. Whether your family chooses the Florida magic or the California charm, I'll handle every detail. Drop me a message and let's figure out which is the perfect fit for your crew!
